75% of young people worldwide are frightened of the future—because of the climate crisis. (Hickman et al. 2021) Despite the alarming situation, there is room for hope: All the solutions we need to stabilize our climate are already in our hands—but we need to implement them rapidly. (IPCC 2023) To motivate (young) people to fight for a liveable future, we show them how we will have accomplished it: In 2073, a climate activist looks back on crucial points in history and tells her story of how we achieved humanity’s biggest challenge. This emotional interview short film uses the protagonist’s point of view to tell the story of what happened in the decades leading up to 2073—and which decisive events have contributed to the fact that humanity has now stabilized the climate. The optimistic message is aimed specifically at young climate activists and serves as an important counterpoint to the widely circulating “doomsday” narratives, often pushed by the fossil fuel industry. Because the truth is: it’s not too late. And the actions we take now will have consequences for centuries to come. (IPCC 2023)
