Port Wine is aged for decades in wooden casks and the vintage year of each wine is hand-painted on the cask with white paint over a stencil template, leaving the number inscribed on the wood. The 1969 harvest proved to be such an exceptional vintage that it called for an exclusive package.  Hence, the egg-shaped bottle was placed in a wooden case decorated with a replica of the stencil used to mark the year 1969.
