The Green Futures Initiative

In partnership with Creatives for Climate and Clube da Criatividade de Portugal, The Green Futures Initiative was created. An EU co-funded project to mobilise the European visual communication and graphic design industry to address challenges related to employment, economic resilience, smart growth, innovation, upskilling, and global competition.

The Green Futures initiative highlights the transformative role of the creative community as a driver of sustainability and climate action and will raise awareness of the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive amendment to avoid greenwashing practices.

The approach involves a diverse range of actions, including training sessions, dissemination activities, workshops, events, and more.

Trends Report

Two cutting-edge sector trend reports will be produced, spotlighting the freshest sustainable and social trends in the design and visual communication industry. Stay tuned for the latest updates!

Video-capsules "Best Practices"

The Video-capsules, “Best Practices”, will feature the creative minds behind successful works, aimed at promoting innovation and highlighting industry best practices rooted in sustainable values and processes. Six video interviews, scheduled for both 2024 and 2025,will be produced and broadcasted annually, offering insights into exemplary practices within the industry.

Green Futures Awards

Integrated within the ADCE Awards – Best of European Design and Advertising – the contest will include new Awards’ categories promoting NEB values. These categories will include the European Star, recognizing contributions to democracy, justice, and peace; the Genius Loci, celebrating the cultural uniqueness of Europe; the Green Star, honoring initiatives combating climate change and promoting sustainability; and the Equal Star Award, spotlighting achievements in diversity and inclusion. This prestigious event will span two editions, each marked by the esteemed presence of industry-leading professionals serving as jurors.

Traveling Exhibition

The Green Futures Traveling Exhibition will bring together the esteemed winners of the ADCE Awards alongside the Green Futures Awards. This unique showcase will serve as a platform to promote the Best of European Design and Advertising, spotlighting cutting-edge trends and works that champion social and sustainable initiatives. With two editions scheduled for 2024 and 2025, the exhibition aims to disseminate groundbreaking creativity aligned with a conscientious, forward-looking ethos.

Creative Express

In Lisbon, a single edition workshop will convene 30 young European creatives for an immersive 2.5-day experience. Collaborating in teams under the guidance of senior professionals, participants will tackle a specific brief from Creatives for Climate, to find creative solutions that focus on addressing challenges related to greenwashing.

Talks and Workshops

Eight influential keynote speakers will headline the Creative Festivals organised by creative clubs. The Trends Reports, the Green Futures Awards, and the “The Atlas of Weak Signals,” will be presented. Moreover, topics pertinent to the New European Bauhaus (NEB) and its impact on the creative industry will be addressed.

Climate Summit

Anticipating an attendance of over 200 influential leaders, taking place in Amsterdam, the Creative Summit is designed to serve two purposes:

(i) Serve as a focal point for the creative industry ecosystem to converge, fostering collaboration, idea exchange, and discussions on pressing future challenges.

(ii) Provide a pivotal moment where the local industry actively responds to and addresses the urgent demands presented by the climate crisis.

The summit will feature Green Futures Talks and Workshops, where eight keynote speakers will be showcased participating in the Creative Festivals organized by various creative clubs. Moreover, the Trends Reports, the prestigious Green Futures Awards, discussions on “The Atlas of Weak Signals,” and insights into the New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative and its implications for the creative industry will be presented.

Training Programs
Greenwash Watch

Experience two editions in February 2024 and October 2024, accommodating a total of 44 participants. This 5-week online course will feature four 90-minute interactive Zoom sessions and over 15 on-demand video lessons. Moreover, gain exclusive insights from five industry experts and engage in weekly activities directly applicable to client projects. Topics covered will address sustainability, strategies to avoid greenwashing, fostering positive impact, and innovative models and techniques in design and creative industries.

Bridging the Creativity Gap

Engage in two editions welcoming 30 participants per edition. This 6-week online course kicks off with an introductory session followed by three 2-hour Zoom workshops. Explore 12 thought-provoking articles, videos featuring insights from eight industry experts, and weekly exercises designed to reinforce and test learnings. The program will also include an ongoing challenge where participants receive a brief at the start and conclude with a pitch presenting their creative solution, proposal, or idea.
