Scandal

The play ‘Scandal in St. Florian Valley’ – which has caused uproar since its 1907 premiere – portrays Slovenes as simple-minded and xenophobic. This year, to expose people’s fear of migrants, the director cast a black actress in one of the main roles. By uniquely depicting her and Slovenia’s geographical outline, all Slovenes were certain to feel addressed. By exposing the still-present xenophobia, the campaign delivered record-breaking results.
