For the first time in human history, people from all over gathered to clean up the planet on one single day. World Clean-up Day became the single biggest peaceful civic action in human history, as 17.8 million people from 157 countries attended the event, picking up trash and helping to drive a conversation about our consumer habits. World Clean-up Day has already become an annual event. In 2019 over 22 million people were estimated to have taken part in it – 20% more than in 2018.
