"A Description of Our Homeland" is a reprint of Krišjānis Barons book first, in 1859, about Latvian geography and its people. The design is based on an allegory of the Latvian nation — humble roots, wealthy in substance and culture. Hence, the modest linen fabric cover sets off the rich gold field grass sculptural mould within, highlighting the duality of simplicity and plenty. The book is set in Austra — a typeface based on Latvian typographic tradition.
