In 2017 large swathes of the German public lost faith in politics. In times of fake news and a new age of populism, no one knows what’s true in politics anymore. In a campaign they were due to run in Germany’s biggest federal state, North Rhine Westphalia, the Free Democrats sought to change this view by repositioning the party according to its new strategy and win more votes.
