Many marketing specialists believe in a cult of academic knowledge they acquired during their studies. But knowledge becomes outdated, as do the marketing studies of a decade ago. This idea was demonstrated by smearing mould spores over a copy of P. Kotler’s cult marketing book, which was displayed in a citylight and left to let time take its toll. With each passing day the message became more evident: knowledge dates, so fresh ideas are needed.
