Vicente Gajardo is a Chilean sculptor who works mostly with stone. This anthology was intended as a eulogy of Gajardo’s work. The outer black case is a reference to the black granite ever-present in his work.Text and images fill each page almost to the edges, evoking the tension of stone carving. Opening a new book demands a manual task: each leaf has to be cut to reveal the content. The book will then be “sculpted” open, producing a rich texture in the printed edges.
