In this anxiety-inducing global landscape, people are trying more than ever to seek refuge and comfort in spirituality that seems to provide the answers to all those existential questions that are buzzing in our heads. It seems to bring us peace, help us create emotional connections in an individualistic society, and most importantly reconnect with our mental health in an alternative and profound way. rnAs interest in spirituality grows, businesses respond within the framework of capitalism. Appropriating years of indigenous history, tradition and culture, stripping them of their intrinsic meaning and in the end reintroducing them to the public, whitewashed, re-packaged and adorned with Westernized elements. Corporations end up commodifying free, personal spiritual practices, turning them into unaffordable trends. This not only distorts the genuine essence of these practices, but also leads to overproduction and overconsumption. All with one single aim — to capitalize on people’s existential dread.rn“Healthy mind, wealthy body” is an ironic guide that assists seekers on their path to enlightenment, pointing out the contradiction of qualifying a person’s spiritual value with the purchase of expensive and useless products and services. Its goal is to make readers reevaluate their relationship with spirituality — a personal and valid aspect of one’s life. However, in order to practice it in an ethical and respectful way, the reader has to be made aware of the absurdity of the way western society commodifies and exploits spirituality. Which is the purpose of our book.rnThe book is structured into three main sections. In the introduction, readers encounter a mix of ironic, digital, spiritual and surreal images that set the book’s mood. The guide outlines twelve essential practices for engaging in spirituality. The conclusion wraps up the book by offering a critique of the themes explored thus far.
