Memories of my youth

Problem: The memories of our childhood are determined by our parents’ stories and photo albums. But many memories are not covered with photos. Are they less true? Idea: What I remember is true for me. Now I provide the proof: with the help of generative AI, I created photo prints of the memories of my childhood that were not captured photographically. rnNow everyone can see them and so these memories are equally true. Aren’t they? Execution: By using original photos of myself, I got the generative AI ‘Midjourney’ to portray me correctly. With countless variants of text prompts Midjourney “remembered” better and better the images, which had previously only existed in my head. Further image prompts with typical image errors brought the typical imperfect analog photo look. rnThen I exposed the generated images on an old film from 2003. Finally: analog photo prints of my memories. Now I could show what I had experienced. rn‘Memories of my Youth’ is a letter to my mother and an exhibition of photographs – AI photo prints mixed with original photos from my childhood.
