Passer-by is a contemporary magazine that discusses culture, art, and politics, through the relationship of movements in space. Each issue departs from a specific body movement to various perspectives in the current social environment. The first three issues of the magazine—Stretch, Blink, and Tongue Rolling—illustrate this unique approach. The design choices follow the concept of the magazine, a layout that mixes dense text, images, and moments of space to be an efficient, economical, and readable format. The layouts hold a systematic but varied approach, each article has a distinctiveness in its layout, the blocks of text feel responsive to the thoughts and ideas being expressed.
Design details: rn- Image treatment has the same art direction in every issue, but still reflects the issue movement, through different effects, such as distortion, blur, and manipulation.rn- In every issue the inside cover is a composition of the images used on the magazine, due to the loose binding it’s possible to take it off, transforming into a poster rn- Each issue has a different color applied to navigation, captions and cover image, it has a connection to the movement and the theme of the issue. rn- Typography: Montagu Slab, Studio 6, SF Pro Text and Literata.
