Volvo turned its cars into tools for finding missing people. Using the car’s front camera and onboard AI, the system scans faces in real time. If it matches someone in an official database, it alerts the authorities with time and location. If not, the data is instantly deleted. No storage, no tracking, no driver access. Drivers can choose to donate their data to help others. The system is now open-source, inviting all car brands to join. Because some drives can bring people home.
