In India, 58,582 yearly road accidents involve elderly individuals. Elderly Indians do not have a habit of carrying emergency contact even though they are more prone to meeting with an accident. None of the Indian ID cards stores any information that can be of help during an emergency. But what the Indian elderly do carry is their faith in God – on wallets, dashboards, phones, keychains, bags, and more. They trust God with their lives more than anything. So we decided to turn these religious symbols into objects that will protect them in need of an emergency.
With Volvo, we introduced a range of NFC-enabled religious keychains that store all vital health information of the elderly. With just a tap, emergency responders can access it and provide immediate care and help. Each keychain carried a religious symbol often used by elderly, it was distributed in temples, parks, and local shops. The initiative bridged the gap between faith and safety, offering elderly Indians a trusted way to carry essential health data while adhering to their cultural practices. In addition to that, thousands of emergency responders gained instant access to vital health information of elderly individuals, significantly improving response times and care.
