Start the Dance

The film begins with a woman walking towards a man who’s seated in a chair. The man and the woman then begin to dance a tango, but this isn’t just any tango because it’s shot entirely with stop motion technology. The film shows how this ‘shot-by-shot’ technique brings static figures to life, making the dance possible. The film closes with a voice-off explaining that the male lead has ALS, a degenerative disease that paralyses all the muscles.
