On the 16.08.2021 the last US Soldier left Afghanistan and the Taliban regime took over. Harsh sharia rule was reinstated almost immediately and the violation of women´s rights recommenced. To draw attention to the life-threatening situation of women in Afghanistan, Amnesty Austria published this picture of an Afghan woman in burqa. The main difference: the cloth covering her face shows a crosshair.
