To draw national attention to the topic of organ donation, the journalistic NGO ‘Documetalists’ decided to tell Georgi’s heroic story in an unprecedented way – by naming a street after him. By law, streets in Bulgaria must be named after deceased national or local heroes. In 2023 Georgi Nikolov Street was inaugurated in his hometown of Varna – the third largest city in Bulgaria. It is the first street in the world named after an organ donor.
