BackgroundrnIn the 1980s, the US boasted over 200 lesbian bars, but today only about 15 remain. This decline is largely due to gentrification, the rise of dating apps, and the impact of the gender wage gap.
InsightrnLesbian bars play a significant role in providing a sense of support, belonging, and community that extends beyond dating apps, especially to 18+ individuals who are exploring their identity.
IdearnWe turned some of NYC’s abandoned train stations into new lesbian bars. Because those in the process of self-discovery need a ride, but above all, a destination to stop and get to know themselves.
ExecutionrnTo establish our station bars as iconic landmarks for the lesbian community, we named these new spaces after influential activists who fought for freedom and equality. Additionally, we’ve partnered with the Lesbian Bar Project to host cultural events that empower, include, and represent the lesbian community. We also branded station bars with the Fanta colors as well as with our campaign theme.
