However, Petanca’s future is at risk with a declining player base. Many younger generations see it as a pastime for older people, disconnected from today’s lifestyle. Heroes of Petanca aims to shift this view, bringing a fresh, exciting approach to the game and reviving its appeal for future players.
As cities evolve, there are fewer free public activities, especially for our elders. Petanca, being inclusive and low-impact, is ideal for people of all ages. It fosters social interaction, promotes physical activity, and creates opportunities for intergenerational connections. In a time when urban life can feel increasingly isolated, Petanca offers a chance to reclaim third spaces—communal areas where people from all walks of life can come together. Our goal is to address these challenges while strengthening local communities. By reinvigorating Petanca, we aim to bring people together, restore the social fabric, and ensure that everyone, regardless of age, has access to meaningful, inclusive activities.
To bring this vision to life, we’ve created a safe space for newcomers to learn and participate in amateur tournaments and community events. With the guidance of experienced players, participants can master the game while exploring Barcelona’s Petanca fields, making it a fun and enriching way to discover the city.
