The Lampedusa Door Stopper

In 2014 and 2015, more refugees arrived in Europe than ever before. To deliver the message ‘open doors for refugees’ an extraordinary mailing was created: door stoppers made of wood from the refugees’ broken boats stranded on the shores of the island of Lampedusa. Each door stopper has a story of its own. The pieces are crafted by refugees from Lampedusa at the CUCULA workshop and were sent as a symbol to politicians and decision-makers in the German economy.
