100 years after the death of the provocative artist Egon Schiele, Vienna wanted to show it still celebrates the freedom of art like no other city. To showcase Schiele’s explicit paintings in Germany and the UK, various outdoor, print and social media placements were booked and, as expected, were promptly rejected by official sources. The world-famous masterpieces were only allowed to be shown in public with veiled genitals. Apologies were expressed to viewers for the loss of art.
