Under the 8th Amendment, Irish women had less reproductive rights than anywhere in Europe. The referendum campaigns for both Yes and No were noisy rhetoric, graphic. We wanted to chain the tone of the debate, and so projected a 20ft image of a ball and chain on a Dublin sculpture representing women’s struggle. This demonstrated the weight of the 8th amendment was still dragging women down. Our quiet protest – a moment of respite from the poster pollution.
